Winemaker's Approach

Meet the Winemaker: Amanda Gorter

It was important to Charles to work with someone with both an understanding of the land and a deep connection to Paso Robles itself. At the helm of Intercept Wines is Winemaker Amanda Gorter. Originally from the Central Valley and raised in a fifth- generation California agricultural family, Amanda studied Biology and Winemaking at UC Davis before settling in Paso Robles. Amanda’s relentless dedication to the craft and creativity in winemaking transforms hand-selected grapes from Paso and Monterey vineyards into our award-winning line of Intercept Wines.

“I love it in Paso Robles; this is where I want to be making wine in 20 years. I’m from the Central Valley, and my family has a background in California agriculture that goes back three generations. I always wanted to experience new places but didn’t want to give up my small-town and farm-town roots. That’s what made Paso Robles perfect for me - the land and people are so authentic. Here we can make honest wine for real people.”

Working Together

Amanda collaborates with Charles to ensure each wine compliments his stylistic preferences; balanced Chardonnay, medium-bodied Pinot Noir, a Cab with approachable tannins, and Red Blends with a long, lingering finish. Together, Amanda and Charles deliver wines that are bold and expressive – while being authentic to the places they are from.

Where our Grapes are Grown

Paso Robles

Paso Robles

As a rising premier growing region in the wine industry, Paso Robles provides the grapes necessary to develop well rounded, structured, world-class wines. Intercept Wines comes from 7-8 districts in the Paso Robles AVA, allowing the diversity of the vineyard sites to create complexity for the wine.
Monterey

Monterey

The Monterey wine region is known for cool foggy mornings from the Pacific marine layer and sunny afternoons. Its cool climate fosters ideal conditions that produce exceptional wine grapes, cultivating delicious, medium-bodied Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines.
BURGUNDY

BURGUNDY

Bourgogne, or Burgundy, is a primary winegrowing region in Eastern France – home to some of the world’s most admired Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. To make these wines crémant (Fizzy/sparkling) they follow the French Méthode Traditionnelle in which a second fermentation occurs in bottle, providing the bubbles synonymous with French sparkling wines.
